Arrive at Guwahati airport, meet and assist by our driver and transfer to your hotel. Check-in at your hotel on arrival. Time permitting go for local sightseeing in and around the city. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast go and visit the Kamakhya Temple, devoted to the eternal feminine, the goddess of desire, “Kamakhya” – granter of desires. The temple symbolizes the "fusion of faiths and practices" of Aryan and non-Aryan elements in Assam. The different names associated with the goddess are names of local Aryan and non-Aryan goddesses. Later, start your journey to the Tezpur. Check-in on arrival. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Timings to visit Kamakhya Temple: 08:00 AM – 01:00 PM & 02:30 PM – 05:15 PM
After breakfast, go for a visit to Mahabhairab Temple and Cole park in Tezpur. Later, start your drive to Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh. This drive will be through the scenic view of the Eastern Himalayas. Enroute we shall visit the Tipi Orchid Park. On arrival Dirang, check into the hotel. As per your interest take a walk around the local market. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, visit Sangti Valley, surrounded by ranges of Eastern Himalayas, is covered with fruit orchards (kiwi fruit, apple, apricot, orange), dotted with pristine forest and meandering fast hill rivers and home to a very interesting culture and tradition. It is also home to the black-necked cranes, which migrate from China during the months of November & December and after the winter months are over, they set back to their homes in April & May.
Later go to visit the Dirang Dzong or Dirang Fort, built in the 17th century to protect Bomdila from the neighboring states. Also visit the Thembang village, located at about 2300m altitude is of high historical and cultural significance. Return to the hotel and overnight..
Locally known as ‘DZONG’, the 17th-century fort at Dirang represented the authority of the King/Chief and also acted as an important centre of public administration. It was also the centre of military and judicial activities concerning the entire population within his jurisdiction. The fort was built at Dirang in 1831. It is strategically located and is a four-storied fortified building in which the entire village could take refuge at the time of war. The two-storied fort was built out of huge stone slabs and wooden logs. The wooden gate leading to the fort is decorated with local architectural designs. Realizing the importance of the monument recently the archeological department of the state has initiated moves to renovate the fort and also to declare it as a national monument.
Today we will move towards Tawang, located at a height of about 3048 meters and is known for many important and beautiful monasteries. On the way stop at India’s one of the highest motorable passes – Sela Pass (13,700 ft.) along a lake called Paradise Lake or Sela Lake. Also visit Jaswant Garh War Memorial, a memorial to the brave soldier who single-handedly tried to hold off approaching Chinese from the pass during the 1962 Indo-Chinese war. Then continue your drive towards Tawang. Check-in at the hotel on arrival and overnight.
After breakfast, visit the famous Tawang Monastery. This is one of the oldest and significant monasteries of Asia. Later go and visit the Urgelling Monastery, the birth place of 6th Dalai Lama. As per feasibility and interest, later in the evening, visit the Tawang war memorial, commemorating the bravery of martyred Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1962 Indo-China War. You can also enjoy light and sound shows arranged there by army personnel. Return to the hotel and overnight.
Today morning visit Penga Teng Tso (PT T’so), located about 20 km from Tawang is a high-altitude lake at around 12,000 feet. This serene lake is located amidst sensational natural beauty with snow-capped mountains surrounding it from all sides.
Also, visit the Sangetsar Lake, a further 20 km drive from PT Tso, which is famously called Madhuri Lake. An earthquake in this region resulted in the formation of Sangetsar Lake in 1950, which until then was grassland that served the cattle of the locals here. The lake with picturesque snow-capped mountains surrounding it and the valley offers spectacular views. Enjoy a casual stroll along the pathways around the Lake.
Later go to the Bumla Pass, the Indo-China border that lies at 16000 ft altitude is the right place for you to assess your fitness level if you love adventure. Bumla Pass was the passage used by the Dalai Lama to escape from Tibet and enter India. Later transfer back to Tawang.
As per feasibility and interest, later in the evening, visit the Tawang war memorial, commemorating the bravery of martyred Indian soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1962 Indo-China War. You can also enjoy light and sound shows arranged there by army personnel. Return to hotel by dusk. Dinner and overnight.
Do note that visit to PTSO lake, Sangetsar Lake and Bumla Pass is subject to permission granted by the Indian Army. Permits can be obtained locally (at Tawang) from the DC office and cannot be guaranteed in advance. Today local sightseeing in Tawang will be carried out by a local vehicle and the category will be Tata Sumo or Bolero or similar due to road conditions.
Foreign Nationals are not allowed to visit Bumla Pass.
Today morning after breakfast transfer to Bomdila – a beautiful small town of Arunachal Pradesh, situated at a height of about 8000 ft. above sea level. En route, we shall stop at the Nuranang waterfall, originating from the northern slope of Sela Pass, placed at an elevation of 6000 feet. On arrival check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, visit the Bomdila Buddhist Monastery. Later you will be transferred to the city of Tezpur in Assam. On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax. Evening at leisure. Overnight.
After breakfast, transfer to the Guwahati airport for your flight back home.
